Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt: Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt Response: I don't believe I've had a large amount of jealous experiences that affected my personal relations in a negative manner, but I can describe some smaller ones. Often times I experience jealousy in the classroom in the form of grades. Certain people and friends of mine that often score high on tests, and who barely study the material at home, receive higher grades than myself, even though I study and review the material multitudes of times. During these moments I sometimes question my abilities, as even though I study hard, someone who barely tries can get a better score than myself. During these moments of envy, I try to refocus myself and realize that everyone has different ways of learning and experiencing the world, and I shouldn't be as hard on myself.

Summary: Today, we read over the Native American story titled "The Jealous Father," exploring its meaning, themes, and characters in a meaningful way.

Reflection: I found the story to be quite interesting, in particular the characters and tribulations the son had to overcome and outsmart in order to reach his home again. I think that stories like these are pretty interesting and the little bits of lore and themes really enhance the experience.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
