After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

Prompt: After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

Prompt Response: One obscenely foolish moment I've experienced lies in the eighth grade, during a period of Georgia history. During this class, my teacher, Ms. Knox, was explaining the effects and distribution of drugs and other illicit substances. During this conversation she brought up  "weed in a bag" and repeatedly said this in a monotonous manner. For some reason, I found this to be really funny and began to laugh uncontrollably while everyone else stared. This caused me to feel quite foolish and embarrassed, but to be honest I'd rather be able to laugh easily than to not be able to laugh at all.

Summary: Today we annotated a poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and watched a video about his life.

Reflection: I found the poem to be mildly entertaining, but not as much as the previous poems we've read. Hopefully I will find the other poems by this specific author to be more enjoyable in the future.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
