Prompt: Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt: Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt Response: One time I believe I was judged unfairly was when I was in third grade during math class. During this time, my teacher was coming back to school after an extended period of time due to an unknown reason, making this the first time I would see her. During this first day, a small group of kids including myself were pulled aside to learn times tables on the carpet. After a while, I realized I was struggling quite a bit, and I asked for some help from one of my peers. During this moment, the teacher then asked if I was receiving help, and out of instinct I said no, before realizing what a mistake I made and corrected myself with the word yes. After a long pause she told me to put my head down for lying, even though it was an honest mistake. This time was really upsetting for me, and what made it even worse was that the teacher forgot I was there, and while everyone went outside I was left in the room by myself for way too long.

Summary: Today we completed a "CommonLit" assignment in the absence of our teacher.

Reflection: I found the argument within the text to be quite interesting, as fear is often portrayed in a very negative light. I do also agree that we can learn a lot about ourselves and others by understanding and knowing our fears.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
