As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt: As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response: I think that my favorite vocabulary word right now is chaff. I find this word to be quite funny, just because of its definition being worthless matter. In my comic there was a moment the main character called someone chaff, and although that may not be the correct usage, I still find it quite comedic. I think I'll try to incorporate this word in dialogue that is either nonsensical or having to do with agriculture. Overall, I find the vocabulary to be quite flavorful, and look forward to incorporating more of it into my works.

Summary: Today, we continued to work on our presentation projects themed around the poem "Birches."

Reflection: I think my presentation reflects my childhood in a fairly accurate way, although there are some details I did leave out. Overall, I found this project to be rather interesting, as it allowed me to revisit my past memories.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
