Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: One instance where someone's words had a lasting impact on myself was the time my mother announced my great grand father died. That day my brother, father, and I all's were coming home from some sort of event, when my mother was standing at the door. That whole morning I knew something was off, just from the way she was acting. She told us she needed to tell us something serious, and we all sat down in the living room attentively. Eventually got the words out that he died, and we all sat there crying for a good while. That was the first time I believe someone of importance to me died, and the words/experience overall allowed me to grasp what death is at a young age.

Summary: Today, we worked more on our paragraphs for the text "Ambush," and we took notes over formal and informal language.

Reflection: I found the assignment to be relatively easy, and I hope to get a better grade than the last one. I also found the notes to be more of a review for myself, but I still found the examples to be quite helpful.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
