Prompt: Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and spending time with family over a nice dinner. Write about your most unforgettable meal. 

Prompt Response: One of my most unforgettable meals took place due to food poisoning. When I was a lot younger, a sort of stomach bug or sickness was going around my elementary school, with many kids being out for days on end. It was during this time, me and my family decided to go out to a pizza place with some family friends in order to have a little fun. When we were getting ready I then noticed my stomach started to hurt, and by the time we got there I felt very ill and was simply unable to eat. My parents tried to make me, but I physically couldn't stomach that much food without gagging and eventually I just gave up. At midnight, I woke up in with a strange feeling I knew all too well. I ran to the bathroom just in time to throw up into the toilet, which was... not fun. All in all, although this experience didn't directly involve a meal, I still think it is very memorable, that's for sure.

Summary: Today we took a group quiz in class about the short story we just read.

Reflection: I thought the quiz was pretty fair, and I'm fairly confident my group got all the answers right. It was very interesting to see how people interpreted the story different in ways.

Prompt: Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.  Prompt Response:  My handwriting and notes seem to have around the same legibility of hieroglyphics (hyperbole). There was just a bit of tension and squabbling when we talked about hyperbole (understatement). I did in fact, not learn nothing today (litotes). Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. Prompt: In  “ We Real Cool ,”  the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later? Prompt Response:  One moment in which I followed what was "cool" at the time was in elementary school. During this one particular phase, many of my peers were beginning to learn and use swear words when adults wren't in the room. In my juvenile mind, most of the swears I "learned" didn't feel like real words, which left me skeptical of those who taught me them. Regardless, I too began to use some of the words, albeit much less discretely.
