Prompt: Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt Response: The first time I saw the word arable was probably in my freshman year of AP Human Geography. We were learning about different types of cultivation and agricultural practices when it first came up, describing those which are favorable to farming. It means the same thing, often referring to land which can grow crops easily. All in all, the experience in that class definitely helped me to understand the word and the world just a little bit better.

Summary: Today we completed our presentations and our new vocabulary words.

Reflection: I found the words to be somewhat interesting as I've never heard many of them before today. My favorite word probably has to be donnybrook, as it seems quite nonsensical and silly to me.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
