Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response: The word that resonates with me personally has to be surfeit. I like the way it sounds as well as its meaning, being quite similar to the word abundance.  When I think of these kinds of words, I think of fall or spring, and the good foods  and festive activities that come with them, reminding of a time when I was younger.

Summary: Today in class we completed vocabulary lesson seven.

Reflection: I found today's activity to be fairly easy. I was familiar with most of the words, but I still learned some new ones like surfeit and lurid.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
