Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt: Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response: Throughout my career as a student, I've had more than my fair share of group projects. In classes with my friends, they're easy and fun as I know my group members will actually do their work. In classes where I know no one, however, it's a very different story. One instance of this was in ninth grade literature. We were doing a project revolving around Macbeth and I was assigned to a group where I knew no one. I could tell at the start they didn't want to do any of the work so I opted to do all of the writing if they could film what needed to be filmed. In the end, it was a lot of work, but I would probably do the same thing again as I know it wouldn't have gotten done without it.

Summary: Today in class we discussed our book and started to create questions for chapter eight.

Reflection: I feel that the letters native Alaskans sent to the magazines that covered McCandless's story resonate with my view of him. Many of them criticized his overconfidence and distorted view of the world which I also think were not good qualities to have, especially in that situtation.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?
